Why Boise?

Boise has been one of America's best-kept secrets for a long time. At least to the residents, who have known how truly special this town, landscape, and friendly community really is. Everyone seems to be looking for that place where values and morals are still top of mind and everyone is there to help one another. The vibe you get when you visit this city is like nothing most people have ever seen.

On top of the sense of community that drives Boise, we also have a very exciting up-and-coming social scene. Between the multiple indie coffee shops, delicious distilleries, expansive food scene, and the plethora of craft beer breweries popping up all over the city there is something for everyone. Top that off with our incredible access to the outdoors, with over 190 miles of trails to hike, run, bike, or walk your dog in the Boise Foothills.

One thing that also goes hand in hand with the sense of community here in Boise is the love for the football team. Boise State Football has been a perennial Top 25 football team and our hard-to-miss blue turf has garnered Boise national acclaim. Game days could just as easily be considered family days and the residents of Boise cheer loud and hard as the season goes on. The blue turf is truly stunning and is a must-see if you come to visit Boise.

Historically Boise has an interesting past. Boise was incorporated as a city in 1863. Named after the French word "Les Bois" which directly translates into "Woods". The heavy presence of trees along the Boise River helped contribute to this exclamation from the French travelers. Located at the base of the Boise Foothills also known as the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Since its inception, the City of Boise now has many different neighborhoods with their own unique vibes and characteristics.

Climate: The weather in Boise consists of a semi-arid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Another driving factor of many people's fascination with this area. Different from many other locations across the US, Boise enjoys the beauty of fall, winter, spring, and summer. With each season bringing its own recreational activities.  Boise experiences hot and dry summers, winters are moderately cold, autumn is brief, and spring is gradual.

Business: Boise is the headquarters for several major companies, which drive a huge part of the city's economy and population. Many transplants come here to work for many of these major companies such as Albertsons, Boise Cascade, J.R. Simplot Co, Micron, or Scentsy.

The technology boom has really thrived here in Boise with many high-tech companies creating a huge footprint such as Hewlett Packard, Healthwise, Bodybuilding.com, and CompuNet, Inc. Smaller tech companies have found this a great place to create and invent and test their products in a smaller yet thriving market.

Activities: The City of Boise serves as the capital of the State of Idaho. Although this fast-growing city is the largest in Idaho, it still maintains its friendly small-town atmosphere and affordable lifestyle. The city is known for its outdoor recreational activities such as hiking to Tablerock, walking along its beautiful greenbelt, or floating the Boise River which meanders through the city.

Boise has a thriving arts and cultural community as witnessed from local hotspots like the Boise Philharmonic, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Ballet Idaho, and its multiple performance theaters.  Boise is home to Boise State University, which famously known for the blue football turf found on its campus.

For entertainment, residents enjoy events like the Western Idaho Fair, the Boise Music Festival, the Hyde Park Street Fair, Boise Hawks baseball games, and Idaho Steelheads hockey matches. Others enjoy exploring JUMP (Jack's Urban Meeting Place) in downtown Boise, shopping at the Boise Towne Square Mall, enjoying concerts at the Botanical Gardens, and taking the family to the Boise Zoo. Besides these activities, there is always something to enjoy doing in this city’s thriving downtown or its plethora of amazing communities.  See our blogs for more adventures and activities.
