Cambridge is an agricultural and logging community that sits along US Highway 95 in Washington County. This area is considered the gateway to recreation in Central Idaho providing access to the Hells Canyon, the Weiser River, and a plethora of outdoor recreational opportunities. Some of the outdoor adventures residents and visitors enjoy include fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, camping, and hiking. In particular, many appreciate the strolling or biking along the Weiser River Trail, which is an 84-mile-long public recreational trail formed along the old Pacific and Idaho Northern railroad grade. This trail follows the Weiser River, provides access to thousands of acres of public lands, and is a great place to spot big game, waterfowl, and other wildlife. Other popular activities include running in the Rush Creek Stampede or soaking in the waters of Mundo Hot Springs, which is just 3 miles north of Cambridge, Idaho. Mundo has a pool, spa, bistro, accommodations, and RV or tent spaces. Local annual events celebrated in Cambridge include Hells Canyon Days, Bulls and Broncs Rodeo, Music in the Park, the Washington County Fair, and a Harvest Festival.
Beyond the immediate local area, the surrounding Central Idaho region offers even more recreational opportunities. There is excellent steelhead and salmon fishing to the North in Riggins. Riggins, Idaho also offers world-class white water rafting adventures. To the east is the resort town of McCall, Idaho which is famous for its winter sports such as Nordic skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. Additionally, Central Idaho is home to thousands of acres of public lands including the Payette National Forest.
