Star, Idaho is a growing community that shines as bright as its name!  It is a quaint agricultural town nestled within the Northwest plains of the Treasure Valley that has the Boise River meandering through its southern borders.  This suburb of Boise is characterized by its rich history, farmsteads, and small-town atmosphere.  Many of its residents enjoy the stunning views of Shafer Butte, the Owyhee Mountains, and the Boise foothills. There is a variety of living options available including farms, single-family properties on acreage, new construction, and rural or municipal subdivisions.  Star is an ideal location to reside if you seek affordable living within commuting distance of Boise and Nampa.   It is also situated midway between Eagle and Middleton.

Star has a fascinating history reaching back to the 1870s.  It received its namesake from the first schoolhouse that was constructed by its pioneers which had a star nailed to the front door.  The star on the building was such a unique identifier that the building later became a landmark for travelers passing through.  Star also was en route to one of the later Oregon Trail branches and the Boise Interurban Railway system.  Agriculture has historically and continues to be a major part of the economy since the flat topography, irrigation systems, and climate all contribute to favorable conditions for growing crops.

Its historic background can be witnessed in Downtown Star, which presents dozens of buildings with beautiful architecture.  Star’s revitalization project is making efforts to preserve and enhance the city’s core to celebrate its past. The city also pays homage to its roots with the business complex along Highway 44 designed with old west storefronts.

Locally owned shops, restaurants, and businesses add to Star’s small-town charm.  Some examples include Sully’s Irish Pub, Helina Maries Wine Bar, and the Star Mercantile. Other notable hotspots include Honalee Farm Event Center and the Star Barn both of which are popular wedding and event locations.

Star is host to a handful of public parks each offering its citizens a variety of recreational opportunities.  Hunter Park, the largest park, is great for those who enjoy sports.  It features a sports complex for playing soccer, baseball, and football, as well as a skateboard park.  Golf enthusiasts can take advantage of perfecting their swing on the River Birch Golf Course which is open to the public. For those looking for a more relaxing atmosphere, River Park which sits along the Boise River, has a beautiful nature trail and walking path to take a stroll on.  Pet owners appreciate West Pointe Park which is a dog-friendly 2.4-acre park at Star Road and Floating Feather.  Finally, Blake Haven Park is the perfect destination for barbeques and public gatherings with its gazebo, playground equipment, and open play area.

Residents of Star enjoy celebrating several annual community events.  These include the Star Fall Festival, the Christmas Bazaar, a Mother’s Day Car Show, a Sock Hop, and Star’s Hometown 4th of July celebration complete with fireworks, a parade, and a pie contest.

Many people choose Star, Idaho to be their hometown because they love the affordable living and the rural atmosphere, yet still enjoy being close to the Boise metro area for shopping and commuting to work.   Star, Idaho is a community with small town charm and great investment opportunities.
